Claudio Ranieri doesn’t mind if his players show displeasure
Claudio Ranieri doesn’t mind if his players show displeasure when they are left out of the starting XI.
It actually amuses the Italian manager as he believes it’s a sign of hunger that the players have in their belly.
Ranieri decided not to play one of his most in-form players Riyad Mahrez in the previous game against Norwich City and according to him, he liked it that the Algerian winger was upset about his exclusion.
Mahrez is, however, believed to be back starting for the Foxes after the international break.
Leicester will resume the campaign in the top division taking on Southampton FC this weekend.
Talking about his decision to drop Mahrez and the reaction of the player on that, Ranieri said, “I am not a big fan of the players who are happily ready to be left out. How can’t you be unhappy when you are not picked? If you are eager to play and make a mark and have got the appetite, you would be unhappy and when I see that, it actually pleases me.”
“As far as Riyad is concerned, I saw him and I clearly felt he was disappointed which was nice to see for me as a manager. We’ve to play a lot of games in the season. It’s quite long and I will be using the whole squad. Everybody will be in the mix at some point of time.”
“There have been talks of the likes of Ulloa and Kramaric being overlooked. But, it’s quite difficult right now. You can’t have all the guys playing simultaneously. They will have their chances.”
Having won 4 and drawn 3 games, Leicester City was at the fifth place in the Premier League standings going into the international break.
