Leicester City Looking to Sign Welsh Attacker
Leicester City are prepared to go in a bidding battle with Everton in order to pursue the services of Gylfi Sigurdsson in the summer transfer window.
The Wales international had a top campaign with Swansea City during the previous campaign as his tally of nine goals and 13 assists ensured that the Swans stayed in the top flight.
According to The Sun, the Foxes have expressed an interest in the Welsh attacker with the future of Riyad Mahrez uncertain beyond the summer. The Algerian footballer had seemingly made his mind up for a fresh challenge elsewhere after having continued with the Foxes last term despite receiving offers from the likes of Arsenal.
"Out of the huge admiration and respect I hold for Leicester City Football Club I wanted to be totally honest and transparent with them and have therefore informed the club that I feel now is the time for me to move on," he said, via Sky Sports.
The 2016 African Player of the Year did not have the best campaign in the Foxes shirt following his sublime display during the 2015/16 season, but he is nevertheless prepared to switch clubs with former suitors Arsenal still interested in his signature.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was speaking to BeiN Sports earlier this week where he confirmed that the club could revive their interest after having missed on his signature during the last summer transfer window. Sigurdsson has primarily featured in the number one 10 role for the Swans in recent seasons, but he is equally competent while switching over to the flanks.
The Icelandic football put up a great showing during the European Championships last year where his nation reached the quarter-final stage, and he will no doubt be a match winner, should he make the move to the King Power Stadium this summer. Leicester City are willing to cough up a sum of around £30m to lure the former Tottenham attacker.
