Mark Davies out for 4 Months due to Injury
Bolton Wanderers have suffered a major injury blow after midfielder Mark Davies has been ruled out for up to 4 months with an injury to the knee.
The 26-year-old had just returned from spending around nine months on the sidelines because of a similar injury on his knee last year. Bolton have certainly not had the luck of the injuries. It appeared that Davies was finally putting behind his injury problems of recent years after making 11 appearances so far. He has scored one goal in these matches. Manager Neil Lennon admitted that it was a huge setback for the team.
Despite struggling for quality players in the team, Bolton suppressed everyone by allowing striker Jermaine Beckford to move to Preston North End, who are playing in League One, on a loan deal till the end of the season. Lennon has explained this decision by saying that Beckford was unlikely to get much of a first-team opportunity between now and the end of the campaign. Hence, the loan spell would at least reduce the wage bill on the club, which has been suffering tremendously in terms of finances. Even after the arrival of the former Celtic boss, Bolton continue to struggle in the league.
They are just one place above the relegation zone, although they have had three wins in the last four."It's a huge blow for us obviously, and for the player, who has been working really hard. When he came in on Tuesday it was swollen, but the next day it had gone and he said 'I feel ok, I think I can train'.The scan came back that there was damage behind the lateral side of the knee and it looks like he needs a microfracture. It looks like a procedure is going to be necessary,” said Lennon.
