Paul Konchesky is aiming for promotion with his new club Gillingham
The 35 year old left-back Paul Konchesky joined the English League One club Gillingham on July 21 of 2016 and Konchesky has stated that one of his main objectives is to help his recently signed club in snatching a promotion spot to the English League Championship.
Konchesky believes that Gillingham has a realistic chance of being promoted as the veteran left-back said:
“It happened quite quickly. I had been training on my own, doing bits and pieces with other people, and then I got a call from the Gillingham manager one day. Two days later I am signing for them and ready to go for the season.I just want to get the season started now. I am here to play and win’’
“The boys last year and even more so this year, they have the ability to get promoted and I want to be in a successful team. I can add my experience and hopefully we can go a long way this year. “If I can help, along with the other senior players and the manager, I will but first and foremost I want to play and do well for the team. That will come.I want to play and win games. The club want to be successful and I want to be part of it.”
This was one of the initial comments that Konchesky stated after having signed with Gillingham as he believes that they can be promoted to the 2nd tier English League Championship and that he wants to do as much as he can to help them in this difficult quest.
Unfortunately for Gillingham and for Paul Konchesky, things have not been going as he initially wanted as the club is currently struggling just to stay above the bottom relegation zone with 7 defeats, 5 triumphs and 5 draws out of the 17 opening league matches of the season.
There are more than 25 English League One matches left to be played which is more than enough time and points that are left which can help Gillingham in their journey of earning a promotion spot which is one of the initial objectives of Paul Konchesky after having signed with the club.
