Pearson Places Faith On His Team
Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has said that he will be placing a lot of faith on the team that has won the championship when the club take on top teams in the Premier league next season. Leicester managed to enter the championship season as the winners, while they also collected more than 100 points along the way. In the end, they almost finished 10 points above second placed Burnley. Despite this, there have been rumours that their manager is ready to complete a squad overhaul, which will see them sign several stars in the summer.
Clubs that are promoted from the championship automatically adopt different ways of staying in the Premier league. Some try to spend their way in the hope of achieving another season in the top division, while some try to retain their core players and build on it. Pearson has confirmed that Leicester will be trying to do the latter, as he will be retaining most of his players who did the hard work in the championship. There have been rumours that Leicester are looking to sign Galatasaray midfielder Selcuk Inan, who will come with a massive wage demands of more than £ 60,000.
Pearson has confirmed that City have a strict wage structure of just £ 30,000 per week.
"It's got to be a fluid situation. We operate with a small squad as it is. There aren't going to be too many changes in that sense. We are probably going to be adding to it more than anything else. The additions have got to be right. The criteria for that is they either have experience playing in top-level football, in one of the best European leagues, or they have got to be an outstanding talent. We have got to recruit in a way that we get players who are going to complement,” said the manager.
