Roy Hodgson Accidentally Sold the Wrong Player to Sign Paul Konchesky
It is being claimed that Roy Hodgson might have sold the wrong player when he had been in charge of Liverpool. At a point of time, Alex Kacaniklic was considered to be the next big thing coming out of academy of Merseyside club. However, he had been transferred to Fulham 9 years ago.
The winger was representing Sweden on an international level during that time. He has now suggested that it has been a misunderstanding. Eager to bring on Paul Konchesky seeing his stellar performance playing for left-back against the Whites to Anfield, Hodgson added Lauri Dalle Valle and Kacaniklic for sweetening the deal.
Konchesky had played a significant role in the journey of Fulham to the final of Europa League in the last season when he played under Hodgson. Thus, he had been taken to the perfect substitution for Fabio Aurelio. However, it is now being claimed by Kacaniklic that the seventy-one-year-old might have sent the wrong Alex over to Craven Cottage in the transfer window of 2010 summer.
“ Kacaniklic stated that it was a little difficult for Liverpool to get a substitute for him“. He goes on to say that when he was in Fulham and prior to the signing, he had a talk with Roy Hodgson over a call and he came to learn that he had made the mistake of changing the wring Alex. He was thinking that he had actually replaced Konchesky with another Alex. Nevertheless,it “was already too late“.
According to him, the situation is really funny. Thereafter, he reveals that Hodgson said that he is welcome back at Liverpool but he should actually do what he feels like doing. He didn’t go back as he had already changed his mind and had been really excited about his move to Fulham.
