START WITH A WIN
Leicester City have begun the new Championship season in decent form after managing one victory and a draw from the opening two matches. The club are expected to challenge for promotion spots this time around after failing to reach the Premier league through the play-offs last season.
The club had a big match against Leeds United during the weekend. Leeds are also expected to be one of the promotion challengers this season. The two heavyweights from the Championship fought and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
After the encounter, manager Nigel Pearson said that he was not too disappointed with the result. However, he feels that Leicester City have the much better chances to get the opening goal. It would have brought about a change in the match, as it was cagey for most of the 90 min. Pearson also complimented Leeds United for the gameplan they adopted in the match. Leeds came into the encounter after having won their opening game like Leicester City. Leicester have won the opening match of the season 2-1 against Middlesbrough.
This result has left the team ninth in the table and they are level on points with Leeds. The club's next match will be against Derby away from home. Pearson is looking to take three points from this encounter.
"I think it was always going to be tight. Leeds came with a decent game plan and tried to limit the number of chances we had. We had the best clear-cut chances but we were unable to take one.
"I thought it was an interesting game with two decent sides who cancelled each other out. It was a decent game and I felt comfortable throughout.
"You credit Leeds for how they went about the game and that was how games are in the Championship - very tight and there for the taking," said Pearson.
