PAUL KONCHESKY: LEICESTER CITY CAREER EXAMINED
Paul Konchesky had played for clubs like Charlton Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, West Ham United, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest before he signed for Leicester City in the summer of 2011. He had to leave Liverpool that summer after falling out of favour with manager Kenny Dalglish. Paul Konchesky left the Reds for Leicester City upon his return from the loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
Ironically, his Leicester City debut came against Nottingham Forest. His transfer from Liverpool to Leicester City was confirmed in July 2011. Paul Konchesky signed a three-year deal upon joining the club from the Reds for an undisclosed fee.
Paul Konchesky was on for the whole game as his new team Leicester City played out a 2-2 draw at the home of his immediate past team Nottingham Forest on August 20, 2011. It was on the occasion of his debut for the Foxes. His first Leicester City goal didn't arrive until November 1, 2011. Konchesky scored one of the goals in a 3-1 away win over Burnley.
Konchesky came close to leaving Leicester City at the start of the 2013/14 campaign before the transfer fell through. He had one year left on his contract at the club at that point. The two-cap England international would go on to sign a new 18-month paycut deal at the club in January 2014 until the summer of 2015. He was a key player for the Foxes in their Premier League promotion-winning campaign of the 2013/14 season.
He played his part in the Leicester City team that survived relegation from the top flight during the 2014/15 season. He was then sent on loan to London club Queens Park Rangers (QPR) when new manager Claudio Ranieri told him that he was not in his plans in the summer of 2015. He missed the Premier League title-winning campaign of the 2015/16 season while on loan at QPR.
